I am a mixed media artist, primarily working now in Fiber. I dye silk fabric and scarves using a Japanese tie dye technique called shibori. I also explore Katazome, Japanese paste resist, which yields incredibly bright colors on fabric. In addition, I create mixed media botanical collages and design work for licensing. I have taught art for all ages and continue to do so. I currently teach for the University of Central Missouri and the Kansas City Art Institute, and offer freelance classes for students of all ages and abilities. I taught as an artist-in-residence for Kansas City Young Audiences for 15 years, and so have experience in traveling and working as an artist in residence too.
I have also had the pleasure of working with special populations through Very Special Arts of Missouri and Accessible Arts of Kansas. I am a former Board Member and Vice President of the Best of Missouri Hands artisan organization and am very active as an exhibiting artist locally and nationally.

Natural instinct replaces an art degree; monstrous visions bestow inspiration. From a lump of clay, a few pieces of cloth, and a happily creative brain, comes the wonderful work of Pat Benedict. Since her eyes first opened in this world, her loving fascination with Halloween surrounded her. The fascination grew to an inescapable urge, and that urge exploded into a self-employed full time artistic career. Pat Benedict brings Halloween themed clay miniatures to life with a smiling warped mind. 3D artist. Visual merchandiser.
